Mission:  To promote knowledge and understanding of the Mosin Nagant design
and encourage responsible firearm ownership for generations to come.

I grew up with firearms, but didn't begin collecting until 1994. I began to focus on Mosin Nagants in 2000 and at the suggestion of a friend adopted "7.62x54r" as my nickname on the internet in honor of the caliber used in my favorite rifles. In the short amount of time I've spent collecting Mosin Nagants I have learned a lot from some excellent resources on the internet and off, as well as from observations of my own collection. With a subject as varied as Mosin Nagants there will always be more to learn and I don't consider myself an expert by any means.

In 2003 large imports of inexpensive rifles raised the level of interest in the Mosin Nagant design. A lot of newcomers entered the collecting field with many questions. While the information is out there to be found, the vast amount can be overwhelming, especially to a casual collector. After participating on the Collector's Forum at Gunboards.com and seeing new collectors ask similar questions about recent purchases, I decided to compile some basic information in a concise manner. The goal is to answer common questions in an easy to use format while encouraging further research. In my opinion, pictures truly are worth a thousand words and I have made extensive use of them.

The first pages I created were hosted on my personal web space and were promoted by "word of mouth" on the internet forums. As the number of pages and pictures increased, the space was outgrown and bandwidth became an issue. In late 2003 I decided to register a domain and purchase hosting services that will serve the needs of my site users. On January 2, 2004 7.62x54r.net "went live". I hope that you find the site as useful and as enjoyable to use as I have creating it.
